High Tide

A good high tide covered all the mud banks and pushed a lot of waders onto the scrapes. The tide is due to get higher over the next 2 days and may well come over the Dumbles, Top of the tides will be 09.30 tomorrow and 10.15 on Monday.

Zeiss Hide

A great set of waders; Lapwing 45, Ringed Plover 95, Little Ringed Plover 1, Golden Plover 4, Dunlin 97, Sanderling 1, Curlew Sandpiper 1, Ruff 11, Greenshank 3, Snipe 6 and 6 Avocet. A Peregrine was on the cross fence and at least 8 Cranes among several hundred Greylag and Barnacles on the Dumbles. A great flock of 10 Yellow Wagtails in a range of plumages and a Cettis Warbler were close to the hide and a Wheatear a long way off.

South Lake

A stunning flock of 190 very flighty Black Tailed Godwits, redshank 19, Spotted Redshank 1, Ruff 1, Snipe 1 and around 25 Dunlin flew past. A good selection of ducks with Gadwall, Teal, Shoveler, Tufted Duck and a single Pochard.

Rushy

Teal 438, Wigeon 5 (+ hybrid), Black tailed Godwit 5, Snipe 2 and a Green Sandpiper flying over. Three Grey Wagtails were around the concrete edges.

In the collection

Good to see a wild male Pintail in the eider pen still in complete eclipse body plumage. A Tit flock contained around 15 Chiffhaff in the Canoe trail area.

Summer walkway

Little Egret 2, lots of Curlew and Shelduck flying into roost, Peregrine, Cranes and lots of Greylag and Barnacle Geese on the dumbles and a distant Wheatear. A big flock of 90 Meadow Pipit were just north of the Shepherd's Hut.
