High Tide but no sign of Yellow Legs

Lesser Yellowlegs

Despite a search from 07.00 this morning the Lesser Yellowlegs has not been relocated yet.

Waders

A good high tide just failed to cover the Dumbles but was high enough to force waders into the scrapes. Highlights were at least 8 Curlew Sandpipers a Little Stint, 4 Grey Plover briefly from the Zeiss Hide. Dunlin were very mobile but certainly over 100 with the South lake sheltered from the strong northerly wind giving the best views and counts, among them were at least 9 Ringed Plover. The curlew roost peaked at 260 with 2 Bar Tailed Godwits among them. The more resident waders were 220 Black tailed Godwits, 18 Ruff, 22 Redshank, a couple of Green Sandpipers and the 2 juvenile Spotted Redshank.

Ducks

A handsome flock of 125 Wigeon from the Zeiss and at least 600 Teal around the site no doubt arriving on the strong winds.

Other highlights

included at least 12 little Egret over the high tide and 9 of the Cranes flying into the Dumbles
