Little-ringed Plovers hatch

The Rushy Little-ringed Plover pair have finally hatched

Little-ringed Plover update

This morning the Little-ringed Plover pair hatched four chicks from under the protective cage, it was a tough start as they valiantly fended off various other species from getting too close to them, sadly at least one was taken by a Jackdaw. Hopefully the young will find some better cover once they are fully mobile.

The South Lake pair may also be nest prospecting again, we are keeping a close eye on them.

White-spotted Bluethroat

The male was heard singing again at Middle Point this morning and one or two very brief sightings reported through the day, it has been very windy and rather exposed out at the point today, certainly not ideal for locating a skulking species with a fairly quiet song.
