Look out for raptors

Highlights today included a Goshawk hunting the Dumbles, earlier seen over the car park. A Peregrine was out on the river, a few Buzzards are also around and whilst not strictly a raptor, a Short-eared Owl was also out over the Dumbles this morning.

Zeiss Hide
The flock of eight Pink-footed Geese were still out on the Dumbles with Canada Goose flock, just scan through the geese on the edge of the river from the hide. Also on the Dumbles are around 800 Golden Plover, often wheeling around putting on a great display over the seawall with some occasionally coming to rest on the Top New Piece closer to the hide. Also on the Top New Piece were 187+ Wigeon, 53 Pintail, 1131 Teal, 23 Redshank, the first-winter Spotted Redshank, 4 Black-tailed Godwit, 25 Snipe and 12 Ruff.

Kingfisher Hide
All the White-fronted Geese were here again this morning on the Bottom New Piece with the flock made up of 16 adult and 4 juvenile Russian (European) race and 2 juvenile Greenland race.

South Lake
At least 204 Knot were again on the wader scrape with 561 Black-tailed Godwit. Duck included several hundred Shoveler, plus Gadwall, Teal, Mallard, Tufted Duck and Pochard.

Rushy Hide
Two Bewick's Swans (Gastro and Roux) were in for the feed this morning along with 86 Shelduck, 89 Pochard plus several hundred Tufted Duck, Pintail and Mallard.
