Plovers

Estuary Tower

Four Little-ringed Plover flew low past the tower in the direction of the South Lake and appeared to drop in, another was calling in flight with Ringed Plover and eventually ended up on the mud in the middle of the Tack Piece. At least five Ringed Plover and six Dunlin were also present here and the three Snow Geese were still present.

Dumbles- Five flocks of Golden Plover arrived, a total of 78 at one point but numbers kept changing as they came and went, female Wheatear and 2 Linnets among them, 175 Russian and 2 Greenland White-fronted Geese, 2 Pink-footed Geese, 2 Peregrine, 29 Curlew + 12 Avocet were on the scrape with a few Teal and Shoveler.

Tack Piece

About 200 Wigeon remained, a drake pintail and small numbers of Teal and Shoveler were on the scrape. A single Little Egret fished the drying flood, two were present yesterday with a Great Egret as well. Eight Cattle Egret appeared early afternoon.

South Lake

Only four at 08:00am but numbers rose to 169 Black-tailed Godwit, two drake and one female Pochard, a pair of Goldeneye, 81 Avocet, 36 Shoveler, 145 Black-headed Gull, c16 Teal and the Great Crested Grebe among the species noted.

Top New Piece

17 Avocet, 11 Black-headed Gull, 2 calling Water Rail, Redshank (wing display), 58 Wigeon, 6 Lapwing, Snipe, Reed Bunting and 26 Shelduck.

Rushy Hide

Eleven Avocet and 24 Black-tailed Godwit on the lower pond.

Kingfisher Hide

The male Kingfisher was about the nest bank again.
