Pochard departures

A clear spell over night has allowed further departure migration, we only had 24 Pochard left on site this morning. A few more Wigeon look to have gone too.

Estuary Tower
27 Dunlin, 2 Avocet, 2 Redshank, 160 Wigeon on the Dumbles scrape, 84 Barnacle Geese with Bar-headed and Snow x Bar-headed Goose, 2 immature Peregrines on the driftwood, Buzzard and 45 Shelduck + another 34 on the Severn. At least 30 Russian White-fronted Geese on the Goose House Ground.

Rushy Hide
96 Pintail + an overnight departure of Pochard, 9 male, 7 female, 8 Avocet, 5 Redshank, a few Wigeon and flocks of Tufted Duck and Mallard.

Tack Piece
385 Wigeon, 16 Redshank, 156 Barnacle Goose, 3 Ruff and 40 Curlew.

South Lake
96 Shoveler, 6 Pochard (4 males), 45 Avocet, 10 Redshank, 288 Black-tailed Godwit, 11 Mute Swan, 20 Shelduck, 4 Gadwall, c70 Teal, 5 Cormorant. The Cattle Egret was present again this afternoon, in the trees to the left of the Discovery Hide.

Zeiss Hide
331 Wigeon, 23 Curlew (including head-started bird 40), pair of Oystercatcher plus another single bird on island, 13 Avocet, 3 Snipe, pair of Water Rail in reedbed below hide.

Kingfisher Hide
Female Kingfisher sat outside the nest hole this morning, calling to the male further down the channel.
