Red-breasted Mergansers and more

A pair of Red-breasted Merganser were floating on the Severn over high tide, an uncommon visitor here.

Estuary Tower

Whimbrel with three Curlew on the Dumbles (includes White Flag 28)+ 2 Redshank, male Wheatear at Middle Point, a Redpoll flew over NE with a Goldfinch, a air of Red-breasted Merganser were floating on the Severn off the Dumbles + 6 Gadwall, 22 migrant Curlew and 9 Bar-tailed Godwit. Initially one dark phase flew downriver but later two dark phase Arctic Skuas were seen on the ebb tide, they rested on the mudflats for a time. 14 Arctic Terns dropped in for bath off Middle Point around 3pm but continued South.

Tack Piece

Pair of Bar-tailed Godwit with 46 Black-tailed Godwit on the central flood. 3 drake Wigeon + Shoveler, Shelduck, Teal, Gadwall and Mute Swans, Willow Warbler singing along pathway + Golden Plover over NE, also Snow Goose.

South Lake

A few Swallows feeding over deep lake, two 3cy Mediterranean Gulls on the causeway, 70 pairs of Black-headed Gull, pair of Little-ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, 12 Avocet, 4 Oystercatcher, breeding plumage Spotted Redshank on Duck Marsh from Hogarth Hide.

Top New Piece

A few Black-tailed Godwits with the Avocets, nesting Crane, singing Reed and Sedge Warblers, Sand Martins feeding over.

Three Lapwing and 3 Redshank.
