South Lake
The Cattle Egret has been showing on and off all day, moving between the causeway in front of the Discovery Hide and the trees to the left of the hide around the deep lake. The drake Goldeneye also returned to the deep lake this afternoon. This morning the wader scrape held 451 Black-tailed Godwit, 14 Avocet, two pairs of Oystercatcher and 70 Shoveler.

Estuary Tower
The White-fronted Geese started their day with breakfast in the Goose House field, north of the tower just over the hedge from the Tack Piece. At lunchtime they made their way down to the Bottom New Piece, viewed from the Kingfisher Hide before returning to near the Estuary Tower this afternoon, dropping in on the Tack Piece. The Tack Piece also held at least 534 Wigeon this morning along with 38 Redshank and 2 Ruff.

Kingfisher Hide
The pair of Kingfishers have been showing on and off throughout the day, prospecting the nesting bank. As activity is increasing here we have closed the windows for the season to help reduce disturbance to this sensitive species. You can still get great views of these birds and closing the windows has helped them breed successfully for the last three years, sometimes raising two broods each season. Over the next few weeks we will see some activity as the pair establish their territory and sort out the nest hole, before the female lays her clutch and begins incubating. At this point activity will drop off for a few weeks until the eggs hatch and then the parents will be very busy feeding their young. We will keep you up to date with the latest news through the sighting's blog and our Twitter feed.

Zeiss Hide
A flock of 392 Wigeon on the water opposite the Van de Bovenkamp Hide. Nine pairs of Avocet on the open water towards the seawall, with a pair of Oystercatcher on the island. A Cetti's Warbler was singing from the reedbed in front of the hide. A Great Spotted Woodpecker was in the Spinney next to the hide.
