Scattered White-fronted Geese

The Russian White-fronted Geese didn't quite know where to feed today, they were noted in many locations but wanted to be in the Ox Piece despite a couple of disturbances from an unknown source.

Estuary Tower

Late morning saw at least five Russian White-fronted Geese on the Dumbles with a further 9 and 2 flying past towards the Ox Piece where 38 were feeding, a party of 39 were on the low tide Severn sands, earlier in the day 32 were feeding in the Tin Shed field just E of the Van de Bovenkamp Hide. Once again a few Bewick's Swan ventured out to the Dumbles to feed. Peregrine Falcon, Ross's Goose, flock of Barnacle and Canada Geese on the Dumbles.

Ten Cattle Egret roosted but left at dawn.

Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory

93 Bewick's Swans at the roost/feed, the drake Mandarin, 100+ Shelduck, 33 Pochard, 40 Pintail, 4 Snipe among the birds noted.

Tack Piece

Got better over lunchtime/high tide, 2000 Golden Plover, 363 Black-tailed Godwit (some moulting into breeding plumage) 1000 Lapwing, 340 Dunlin, 120 Curlew and uncounted Redshank and Ruff, Wigeon, Teal, Pintail, Starlings and Pied Wagtails. A Great White Egret sat in the middle of the field for a time this morning. Three Egyptian Geese arrived mid-morning but left early afternoon.

South Lake

Eight Avocet, c30 Pochard, flocks of displaying Teal and feeding Redshank, 440+ Lapwing, a few Common Gulls among the Herring and Black-headed Gulls.

Duck Decoy

Kingfisher + 3 Little Egret roosted overnight.

Canoe Trail

The Great White Egret was seen fishing here again this morning.

South Finger

Goldcrest with the tit flock.

Top New Piece

Little Grebe, Little Egret, 4 female Pochard on the fleet viewable from Van de Bovenkamp Hide.

100s of Teal, Lapwing, Dunlin and Canada Geese on the field and flood with up to 7 Great Black-backed Gull roosting on the islands.

Glossy Ibis

Again seen in the entrance road fields, please park in the WWT car park and wlak back up or the free car park on E side of Patch Bridge to view.
