Severn bore

Severn Bore Safari

Great views of the bore this morning on the Severn Bore Safari. A group watched the bore come by and marvelled as the mudflats disappeared under a sheet of water some great wildlife was then followed by a mega breakfast.
Here is a flavour of what we saw.
Kestrel 6, Buzzard 4, Marsh Harrier 1, Shelduck 50, Garganey 1, Pochard 1 juv, Avocet 50, Black tailed Godwit 1, Curlew 20, Common Sandpiper 1, Snipe 1, Common Tern and Chicks, Great Crested and Little Grebes many Herons and at least 5 Little Egrets. Two Grass Snakes including a large female a few Brown Hawkers and Ruddy Darter. Finally a fine Roe Deer.

South Lake

Black Tailed Godwit 274, Redshank 30, Ruff 8, Lapwing 102, Greylag 229, Curlew 3 all ringed head started birds. Just 1 adult and 4 Little Ringed Plover.

Zeiss Hide

Avocet 59, Wood Sandpiper 1 to right of scrape, Common Sandpiper 1,Lapwing 137, Snipe 2. Very active Reed Warblers in front of the hide and another 68 Greylags.

Rushy

A great 23 Green Sandpipers here with 8 Black Tailed Godwit, 1 ad and 1 juv Avocet and 6 Lapwing. Lots of Black Tailed Skimmers and a Large Red Eyed Damselfly,

Tack Piece

Lapwing 10, Black Tailed Godwit 6 and a Heron.
