Short-eared Owl touring the reserve

A Short-eared Owl was spotted at many locations about the reserve today, early morning it was flying south along the Dumbles and later in the day resting on a post on the fence between the Top and Bottom New Piece.

South Lake

Two Mediterranean Gull (one 2cy), Avocet, pair of Cranes, Black-tailed Godwits and Oystercatchers.

Kingfisher Hide

Short-eared Owl showing this morning and in the afternoon, a pair of Kingfishers are still feeding young.

Top New Piece

The territorial pair of Cranes, known as Oakie and Sherbert, have hatched two chicks, they are visible from the Zeiss and Van de Bovenkamp Hides on the southern island + Avocets and Black-tailed Godwits.

Tack Piece

Common Sandpiper, 4 Egyptian and Snow Goose with the mixed Canada/Greylag and Barnacle Goose flock, pair of Teal, 2 drake Wigeon, 2m 2 f Shoveler and Great Egret.

Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory

12 Avocets, singing Lesser Whitethroat.
