Spotted Redshank and the first Dunlin begin to return

A few more return passage migrants of note included a smart dusky Spotted Redshank


South Lake

Two breeding plumage Dunlin, 2 Little-ringed Plover, male Ruff, 146 Black-tailed Godwit some leaving to feed on the Severn/Top New Piece, pair of Avocet + chick, 4 Green Sandpiper, 17 Lapwing, 8 Oystercatcher, 27 Redshank (3 juveniles), 50+ Gadwall, male Pochard, 8+ Teal and a few Shoveler including a female with two young, single Great Crested Grebe.


Rushy

Two Green Sandpiper, 2 Redshank, pair of Little-ringed Plover with two young, four broods of Avocet (1, 2, 2 with 3 visiting from the South Lake), broods of Shelduck, Tufted Duck and Mallard, female South African Shelduck.

Top New Piece

A breeding plumage Spotted Redshank, 7 Redshank, 3 Oystercatcher, 10+ Teal as well as an adult Wood Sandpiper (was on South Lake earlier) +2 Green Sandpiper.

Tack Piece

Breeding plumage Dunlin, adult and juvenile Little-ringed Plover, 4 Green Sandpiper, 2 Teal and 4 Avocet.

Middle Point/Dumbles

Grasshopper Warbler reeling, Reed Warblers and Reed Buntings, 2 Little Egret in the Goose House paleochannel, Great White Egret over, Crane feeding in the Ox Piece. Over high tide-136 Curlew roosted on the Dumbles saltmarsh shelf (+ 66 off Saul Warth), with 5 Oystercatcher, pair of Redshank with fledged chick and 116 Shelduck, 2 Common Gull, Little Egret and Grey Heron.
