It has been a day where the sun occasionally peeks out from behind the clouds but not a lot has changed in our birds. New this morning was a Lesser Whitethroat singing above the walkway between the Willow Hide and Knott Hide. Highlights included the Spoonbill out on the river, a pair of Garganey and at least two Little-ringed Plover.

South Lake
There were just 4 Avocet on the wader scrape this morning along with 87 Black-tailed Godwit, a Little-ringed Plover and an Oystercatcher. The pair of Great Crested Grebe were on the deep lake. A Mediterranean Gull was present around lunchtime. A Whitethroat can be heard singing to the south of the hide.

Zeiss Hide
The Crane pair were still on the nest this morning, but spend a short time off on the Dumbles together. On another island were a pair of Oystercatcher and nearby a single Curlew. At least 21 Avocet were also on the scrape and a pair of Garganey flew past the hide. The reedbed below the hide is filled with the song of Reed Warbler and Sedge Warbler. A Common Sandpiper was also seen.

Knott Hide
A new Lesser Whitethroat singing from trees along walkway towards Willow Hide was a surprise this morning. Listen out for Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Sedge Warbler and Reed Warbler here too.

Robbie Garnett Hide

Rushy Hide
