A welcome break from yesterday's wind and rain as the reserve is bathed in autumnal sunshine today.

South Lake
A Cattle Egret appeared on the causeway this morning from the Discovery Hide, whilst on the deep lake were two Shoveler, four Gadwall, a Grey Heron, five Cormorant, nine Tufted Duck and two drake Pochard. The wader scrape held a Green Sandpiper, 284 Teal and 118 Black-tailed Godwit, plus a few Lapwing.

Decoy Hide
A juvenile Little Grebe was on the pond this morning along with three Mandarin, seven Shoveler and two Gadwall.

Robbie Garnett Hide
Fewer duck on the Tack Piece this morning with only 188 Teal, two Shoveler and 23 Gadwall noted.

Estuary Tower
Five Pintail, 16 Shoveler, a Grey Heron and nine Tufted Duck were on the Long Ground Pool this morning. Out on the Dumbles the Ross's Goose was with the Barnacle Goose flock. A Peregrine was towards the southern cross fence and at least 118 Shelduck were on the mudflats.

Middle Point
Two Whinchats and a Wheatear were on the cross fence. Out on the estuary were three Little Egret, a Greenshank, 23 Curlew plus a selection of small waders to the north. In the fields north of the Shepherd's Hut were four Roe Deer.

Rushy Hide
Two Spotted Redshank were roosting on the lower pond this morning along with 12 Redshank, an Avocet, three Black-tailed Godwit, nine Wigeon and 178 Teal. Four Pintail were on the upper pond along with 28 Tufted Duck and three Shoveler.
