The Spoonbill is back

The Spoonbill has appeared again on the Dumbles, feeding in the floodwater channels

The Spoonbill has appeared again on the Dumbles, feeding in the floodwater channels. The bird has been seen all week up and down this part of the river, so is clearly finding the Severn to its liking for now.

Estuary Tower
Along with the Spoonbill was a Grey Heron, the two occasionally trying to intimidate the other to give up the best feeding areas. Closer to the hide were a pair of Avocet on the scrape with 181 Wigeon, 14 Redshank, a head-started Curlew (bird 40) and a pair of Oystercatcher, with a second pair further out towards the riverbank along with a singing Skylark, 132 Shelduck and another 58 Curlew.

South Lake
A total of 544 Black-tailed Godwit were on the wader scrape along with 91 Avocet.
