Rushy
The work continues at the back of the Rushy, the excavator is on site and has begun pond/island/landscaping and the work part have been strimming, raking and collecting. This work will continue tomorrow. A Little Grebe has been on the top pond all day.
Top New Piece
Juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, 5 Spotted Redshank, 4 Redshank, 700 Teal, 16 Snipe, Ruff, Green Sandpiper, 28 Lapwing, three juvenile Little Stint, juvenile Water Rail, a dozen Shoveler, 21 Black-tailed Godwit, 26 Wigeon and Cett's Warbler.
Entrance fields
Three Cattle Egrets feeding with cattle this morning in field on right hand side of approach road.
Tack Piece
Whinchat along West side of Tack Piece, dropping down to feed in the wild corridor between hedge and fence. Hobby hunting dragonflies on the sheltered part of the hedge of the North side, often perched in dead trees. Marsh Harrier hunting paleochannel in Goose House Ground. A few Ruff and flock of Teal have fed here.
Bottom New Piece
132 Lapwing and 8 Ruff feeding on the field with the Longhorn Cattle.
Knott Hide
A dozen Blackcap in the hedge opposite feeding on the berries.
South Lake
An adult Mediterranean Gull, 94 Shoveler, 31 Tufted Duck, Redshank, 2 juv Little-ringed Plover, 27 Lapwing, 286 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 juv Ruff, 190 Teal + Grey Heron, Cormorant, Coot and Moorhen.
Middle Point
37 Ringed Plover, 4 juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, juvenile Little Stint, 500 Dunlin, 10 Grey Plover, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit, 19 Little Egret, 6 Grey Heron + Curlew, Pintail, Wigeon, Shelduck and Whinchat on the reeds.
