Today's sightings- Spoonbill, Bittern and Brents

The Dumbles is still a very busy place, waders come and go during the day and the grass is green and lush for the grazing birds., the following has been noted today.
Wigeon 653 with a flock of 660 also seen on the estuary, Crane 8+ GCP including Slimbridge chick, the Spoonbill was feeding on low tide pools on the estuary during the morning, a party of 13 Light or Pale bellied Brent flew in and rested on the sands for a time, they headed back S near midday, Buzzard 1, 185 Barnacle Geese, 36 E White-fronted Geese, 318 Greylag Geese, 1609 Lapwing, 1500 Golden Plover, 400 Dunlin, 2 Little Stint.
200+ Canada Geese includes a dark bird, almost as dark as Dusky Canada but larger, it is thinner necked and a bit smaller than the other Canada Geese (Atlantic) with a narrowed chinstrap. It has also been reported from the South Finger on previous days. An abberant Canada with a much reduced white chinstrap is also present.

Black-tailed Godwit 44, 1 Greenshank and 10 Ruff (Bottom New Piece), Bittern in the reeds, 1200 Teal, 11 Gadwall, 73 Shoveler. The Spoonbill arrived after midday.
