Tuesday 26 March sightings

Tack Piece

100 Wigeon, 4 Pintail, 4 Little Egret, 11 Gadwall, 4 Curlew, 32 Teal, + 2 Snipe and Ruff (Martin Smith Hide). Six Golden Plover circled this afternoon.

Top New Piece from Zeiss Hide

34 Black-tailed Godwit, 8 Lapwing, 2 Crane, 2 Oystercatcher, 46 Teal.

Bottom New Piece

Two Lapwing + 2 Redshank and 23 Teal.

South Lake- 101 Avocet, 310 Black-tailed Godwit (but moving out to the fields), 30 Shoveler, 18 Teal, 10 Cormorant and 4 Oystercatcher. Rushy Hide- Spotted Redshank, Black-tailed Godwit, Redshank, Green Sandpiper and pair of Pochard

Estuary Tower

224 Russian White-fronted Geese + Barnacle, White Wagtail this morning, two this afteroon with 65 Meadow Pipit, , Little-ringed Plover, 7 Ringed Plover, Grey Plover, 2cy Yellow-legged Gull, 7 GBBGull, 34 Curlew, Marsh Harrier hunting another over very high E, 19 Sand Martin, 3 Reed Bunting. Siberian Chiffchaff late afternoon.

Two Cranes and a lone juvenile plus nine Cranes on the far West shore fields of the Estuary, four in fields to N of Estuary Tower and a pair on Top New Piece. Bit of movement early morning, a few Herring and Lesser Black-backed Gulls upriver, 2 Meadow Pipit and 3 Linnet N. Willow Warbler calling along path. Five Lapwing on territory.

Grounds

At least 8 singing Blackcap and 20 Chiffchaff around the site today, 2 Redpoll by the Sanderson bridge.
