Estuary Tower

48 Great Black-backed Gull, Curlew (89 foreshore and 23 Dumbles), Grey Plover (foreshore), 56 Shelduck on the Dumbles, 350 Wigeon and 30 Pintail on the Severn, 4 Cormorant upriver, 1 down which joined a roosting bird on the spartina island, 42 Canada Geese (saltmarsh), Peregrine on the cross fence and Redwing, Mistle Thrush, Fieldfare and Goldcrest in the hedge or over flying.

Tack Piece

22 Greylag, 30 Canada Geese, 23 Ruff, 210 Wigeon, 7 Shoveler, 8 Pintail, 61 Curlew, 300 Lapwing, 30 Redshank, 7 Shelduck more Lapwing and Golden Plover should arrive through the day.

South Lake

We have planned a work party day or two here cutting vegetation on the islands and causeway, strim deep lake islands so they are ready for the spring, coppicing willows and cleaning windows/clearing pipes.

The waders have been mostly on Top New Piece or Tack Piece in recent days, we will inevitably move the duck to other parts of the reserve while this is carried out. 215 Shoveler, 130 Teal, 120 Tufted Duck and 12 Pochard on deep lake/wader scrape this morning.

Kingfisher Hide/Bottom New Piece

47 Russian and 2 Greenland White-fronted Geese, 140 Canada and the Barnacle x grey goose hybrid, flocks of Dunlin and Lapwing

Zeiss Hide/Top New Piece

Male Stonechat on the fence below the hide, 190 Knot, 400 Black-tailed Godwit, a few Snipe, 200 Dunlin, 600 Teal, 70 Wigeon, 7 Canada and 7 Greylag Geese.
