Two Whoopers

Rushy Hide and Peng Observatory

120 Bewick's Swans at the roost this morning with two Whooper Swan, the latter flew off to the Tack Piece for a time then headed off NE to Frampton on Severn/Fromebridge. A Little Stint was on the islands.

Tack Piece

10 Ruff, 16 Redshank, Spotted Redshank, c20 Golden Plover, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, the leucistic Lapwing was among the  mobile flock, a Little Stint was among the Dunlin on the central flood mud, 400+ Wigeon, 100 Pintail, 120 Teal, 30 Shoveler. The European White-fronted Geese spent the afternoon here.

Holden Tower

Kestrel, Buzzard, 2 Song Thrush, 2 Oystercatcher, 350 Wigeon on the scrape or adjacent pool Red-breasted Goose with Barnacle Geese on the Dumbles and a Little Stint on the Dumbles scrape.

South Lake

No sign of any Avocets today, 113 Black-tailed Godwit, c 20 Snipe on the causeway (Discovery Hide) with a Little Stint and 2 Oystercatcher as well as a large flock of Lapwing. The Marsh Harrier made an appearance late afternoon.

Zeiss Hide

800+ Lapwing, 140 Golden Plover, 6 Redshank, 2 Cormorant and 400 Wigeon.

Kingfisher Hide

120 E. White-fronted Geese (+ 5 on the Dumbles) but they moved to the Tack Piece.
