Wader Festival Weekend Sunday

Middle Point

On the fences and tussocks were three Wheatear, 2 Whinchat and a few Meadow Pipits. A party of 11 Arctic Tern (9 juveniles) spent much of the morning resting on sands out from the point. A roosting flock of Curlew.

Rushy Hide

Green Sandpiper, Avocet, three Snipe, Little Grebe and a flock of Teal as well as a variety of commoner species.

Tack Piece

The Spotted Redshanks visited during the day, 2 juvenile Ruff, Avocet, flock of Teal.

South Lake

Juvenile Little-ringed Plover, 82 Black-tailed Godwit, 28 Redshank, 18 Ruff, 9 Snipe, 40 Teal, 4 Cormorant, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Little Grebe.

Top New Piece/Zeiss Hide

Cattle Egret, 14 Pintail, 5 Wigeon, 300+ Teal, 32 Lapwing, 15 Ruff (from South Lake). The three Spotted Redshank were present early morning.

6 Cranes, 2 Whinchat, 3 Wheatear, Great Crested Grebe, 140 Curlew, 70 Shelduck, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 3 Ringed Plover, 30 Dunlin, 3 Red Knot, Pintail, three Wigeon, Meadow Pipits, Skylarks, four Little Egrets, Grey Heron.

Wild Safari 2.00-3.45pm

6 Cranes, 2 Whinchat, male Stonechat, 5 Grey Heron, 6 Cormorant, Kestrel, Marsh Harrier, 6 Cormorant, 8 Little Grebe, Grass Snake, Small Copper, Ruddy Darters and Migrant Hawkers.
