It was a productive morning at the Zeiss Hide for the wader roost over high tide.

It was a productive morning at the Zeiss Hide for the wader roost over high tide with a good mix of species and ages of birds present.

Zeiss Hide
High tide pushed in a juvenile Little Stint, 4 adult Turnstone, 293 Ringed Plover (mainly adults), 11 Red Knot (10 juveniles and very red adult), 112 Dunlin (a few juveniles), 7 adult Sanderling, 12 Ruff (5 juveniles), 139 Black-tailed Godwit (2 juveniles), 15 Avocet (2 juveniles) and 12 adult. Redshank.

Summer Walkway / Middle Point
Whilst counting tool place at the Zeiss Hide, counts were also made of the roosts along the riverbank and included 9 Bar-tailed Godwit (3 juveniles), an additional 142 Ringed Plover, 3 juvenile Sanderling, a juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, a further 140 Dunlin, a juvenile Whimbrel with 165 Curlew, a Common Sandpiper, 11 Little Egret and an Oystercatcher. Along the walkway a Redstart was in the hedge by the Goose House.

Estuary Tower
Two Wheatear were on the north cross fence on the Dumbles, and another two on the south cross fence. Several Yellow Wagtails were with the cattle.

Rushy Hide
Total this morning included 10 Snipe, Grey Wagtail, 51 Goldfinch, 16 Gadwall and a Cormorant.

Robbie Garnett Hide
Counts this morning were made of 77 Teal, a Green Sandpiper and a Common Sandpiper, 19 Lapwing and 10 Gadwall.

Visitor Centre
Two Swifts were reported over the grounds this morning.
