The female Kingfisher was sat at the nest bank this morning, awaiting the arrival of the male. There is also lots of Kingfisher activity around the South Lake this week with at least one bird making regular flypasts of the Discovery Hide.

Kingfisher Hide
A flock of 111 White-fronted Geese were in Bottom New Piece this morning, but some were still on the Dumbles so the site count is currently unclear. Check our Twitter feed for the latest sightings. The female Kingfisher was sat in the willow to the right of nesting bank and a Great Spotted Woodpecker was on the feeders.

Holden Tower
First thing this morning there was a flock of 41 White-fronted Geese on the Dumbles, but some of these may have moved over the seawall to the Bottom New Piece, viewable from the Kingfisher Hide. Also on the Dumbles were 229 Barnacle Geese plus a Crane. At least 227 Shelduck on river.

South Lake
An adult Mediterranean Gull with a partial black head was amongst at least 872 Black-headed Gulls this morning. Also present was a good count of 114 Common Gull. The Avocet flock was 55 birds, with 10 more on the Rushy. Two pairs of Oystercatchers were on the South Lake with one at either end of the wader scrape. In between on the scrape were 3 Redshank, 5 Dunlin and 81 Black-tailed Godwit. A Kingfisher made a flypast heading across the deep lake.

Zeiss Hide
Two Ruff were with the Lapwing flock of 239 birds. Also counted were 21 Snipe, two pairs of Oystercatcher, 250+ Teal, 100+ Wigeon and a flock of 81 Golden Plover overhead.
