July WeBS (Wetland Bird Survey) count

Another warm sunny day, plenty of butterflies on the wing included many Marbled Whites (pictured). We didn't have the staff or time to cover the July 2019 WeBS count yesterday so it was carried out today. Results as follows...

12 Little Grebe, 6 Cormorant, 10 Little Egret, 5 Grey Heron, 4 Crane, 82 Mute Swan + 10 young, 151 Greylag + 62 young, 24 Canada Geese, 2 Barnacle Geese, 180 Shelduck + 80 young, 125 Gadwall + 2 ducklings, 58 Teal, 636 Mallard, 10 Shoveler, 1 Pochard, 77 Tufted Duck + 3 young, 174 Moorhen, 142 Coot, 125 Avocet + 25 young, 18 Oystercatcher, 144 Lapwing, 8 Little-ringed Plover ( 3 juveniles fledged from elsewhwere), 135 Curlew, 171 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 male Ruff, 6 Dunlin, 10 Green Sandpiper, 63 Redshank ( 3juveniles), 1 Snipe, 3 Kingfisher, 244 Black-headed Gull, 6 Lesser-black backed Gull, 6 Great Black-backed Gull, 77 Herring Gull, 5 Common Gull, 4 Common Tern ( 2 nesting pairs).
