Visitor code of conduct
Nothing makes us happier at WWT than seeing our visitors have a great day out at our sites. To help ensure all our visitors have an amazing experience and our wetland wildlife thrives, please adhere to the following guidance:
- Please wear clothing and footwear suitable for an outdoor nature area
- Please follow all instructions given by staff and volunteers - they are here to help you enjoy your visit, but also keep you safe
- Please supervise any children and vulnerable adults in your care at all times; we want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable visit
- Please use the bins provided and don’t drop litter – this can be harmful to the birds and other wildlife
- Please be considerate of others and respectful of the wildlife when using mobiles, cameras and other similar devices
- Please follow the advice/instructions provided on signs - do not attempt to go beyond any enclosure barriers, into areas which are signed as ‘closed’ or ‘staff only’ areas or enter any water bodies
- At some of our centres you can purchase grain to feed to the birds – at all of our sites, please do not bring your own or try to feed the birds other food
- Please do not disturb the wildlife or pick flowers
- At Steart Marshes, you are allowed to exercise your dog on the site however we ask that you are in control of your dog at all times so that it does not cause distress to other visitors, wildlife or livestock. Please take all dog waste home with you
Additional measures in response to Covid 19
If you or a member of your household are unwell with symptoms of coronavirus, please do not visit us, we look forward to welcoming you when you are recovered. Please also follow Government guidance related to vulnerable groups.
TThe health, safety and welfare of our visitors, staff and volunteers is of paramount importance to WWT and we need your help to keep everyone safe and well at our sites by:
- Respecting the wishes of others who want to observe social distancing and/ or wear face masks
- Maintaining high standards of ‘hand hygiene’ at all times, by making use of our toilets/washroom facilities and hand sanitiser points
