The moorhen who has been sat on eggs on the front pond, successfully hatched six chicks yesterday.

We have been eagerly anticipating her hatch date as she chose quite a busy area to nest in.  Mrs moorhen chose a cluster of reeds right beside the footbridge which brings visitors from the car park to the visitor centre.

The baby moorhens will reply on mum and dad to keep them warm, safe and well fed over the coming weeks.  They will soon starts to venture away from the nest to explore their surroundings, so keep a look out for them scooting around the pond.
