This time of day is the best time to see good numbers of swans with up to 2500 roosting on the land next to the visitor centre. It is great for photographic opportunities of swans in flight and in the right conditions of beautiful Fenland sunrises, with skies of pink and orange.
On the same days we will also be putting on warden walks to see brown hares and other wildlife on the the land next to the visitor centre. These will run at 10.45am and 2pm and last about 45minutes. This area does not have permanent access routes for visitors to use so it is a unique chance to get out onto this recently created wetland oasis.
Water levels are dropping nicely on the reserve now so that hopefully some spits of land will start to appear for our ducks and waders. We will keep you posted as to when hides and footpaths are likely to be opened.
