Sunrise and swans on Lady Fen
Sunrise and swans on Lady Fen

Water levels continue to drop on the Ouse Washes.  The wash road may soon be open and we may be able to have some footpaths and additional hides open at the weekend.  This morning we had 2,000 swans on Lady Fen just next to the visitor centre, the sunrise was amazing with lots of beautiful colours.  The whooper swans were being very vocal as they had their morning wash, and Bewick's swans were flying out overhead from their roost on the Washes.

Spits of land are starting to appear in front of the main hide which should encourage more wading birds and dabbling ducks back on the reserve.  These will join the swans and diving ducks like pochard, which are right in front of the hide.
