Lizzie and her work in her own words:

Where the water meets the sky

Works on paper by Lizzie Ault

The creative work I produce is all about my local area, the East Anglian Fens, the wildlife, the folklore, the history and how we connect with it. I don't think we celebrate this area enough. It's completely unique in this country and I have grown to love its subtle beauty. For me the magic is in the whole experience; the sound of the wind in the reeds and the different bird calls as well as the play of light and the sound of the water. There is a wealth of history and folklore here that fuels my creativity.

I have exhibited at galleries including Babylon gallery in Ely and VK gallery in St Ives. I am a registered member of Cambridge Open Studios and take part in the summer and winter events. I studied BA Fine Art Painting at University of Wales Institute Cardiff and worked for 10 years as a graphic designer before returning to fine art in 2020. I grew up half in urban Kent and lived in rural Oxfordshire. I now live and practise in Ely, Cambridgeshire.

The pieces in this exhibition are all about the wildlife that live in this region; both in the sky on the land and under the water. The works are a mixture of reduction lino prints, mixed media collage and digital illustrations all skilfully representing the gentle and elusive beauty of the wetlands.
