Welney whooper swan update

One of our Welney-fledged whooper swans has made it a little further north with a sighting coming in from the beach at Aberdeen. 'ZAN' has been spotted by Ian and Robin Jackson, Ian took this photo of ZAN and has sent it in to us.

Further update on one of our Welney-fledged whooper swans. 'ZAN' has been spotted along the beach at Aberdeen. Ian and Robin Jackson saw this whooper swan, noticed it had a leg ring and reported the colour and unique code through the Euring website, as well as emailing us here at WWT Welney. We think it is unlikely that this swan will make the crossing to Iceland this summer now. ZAN may head a little further north, but as we head towards autumn whooper swans migrate south to us, so we'll have to keep our eyes peeled for this swan and the other Welney-fledged birds returning for winter.

In the mean time, it's almost like we've been sent a seaside postcard, thanks to Ian for the photo.
