Westerly wind bring seabirds inland
This morning a local resident brought a grounded Manx shearwater into the centre. With the high winds we've seen across the UK this week, several hundred shearwaters have been blown off course and have been found all over our region. The RSPCA have been responding to any that they have been alerted to, whether that be from the gardens of residents or from local veterinary practices.
The individual brought to us was uninjured and so has this evening been taken to the coast to be re-released after its detour. Hopefully it can find its way back home or continue on its journey if it was on migration.
