About the Artist
Nicola in her own words:
As an artist and zoologist fascinated by the natural world, the starting point for any of my pictures has always been field observation. Using drawing, painting and printmaking I record the world around me. I love wildlife picture making and living on the edge of Wicken Fen, Cambridgeshire, I am always surrounded by a rich and constant source of inspiration for my art.
My work has involved private commissions from individuals and organisations (Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Bristol Zoo), illustration for wildlife publications as well as exhibition at local and national art events (Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Society of Wildlife Artists annual exhibition at Mall Galleries, London).
Over the past year I have really enjoyed experimenting with a variety of different print making techniques at Curwen Print Study Centre. Using drawings and information gathered from my sketch books I have created finished pictures and begun to refine several printmaking methods from wood engraving, cardboard cut, silk screen, lino, lithography and dry point.
