What’s going on..October half term!

With October half term already creeping up on us we have loads of activities going on at WWT Martin Mere for the whole family to enjoy. The fun starts from Saturday 20 October to Sunday 4 November. Visiting Martin mere is a great autumn day out with lots to see and do, from experiencing our everyday wildlife to getting involved in festive family activities.  We have a range of activities to keep everyone entertained:

• Why not dive straight into the Halloween spirit and carve your own pumpkin with the kids. Creating your own scary faces! It’s only £3 a pumpkin or two for £5.
• Come and see our family of Asian short clawed otters out and about. We have just had three new arrivals to the family. Three baby girls who we have named, Penny, Belle and Flick.
• Our new adventure play area is open all for children. Guaranteed fun for all ages.
• Our spectacular swan feeds are a must see. We are expected to have over 1000 swans this autumn and is something you must experience as the sound and sight of them are truly amazing! The swan feeds are everyday at 3 and 3.30pm.
• Also explore the different habitats on our canoe safari before it closes for the winter on the 4^th November. The canoe safari is an activity you must take part in, it is one of our award winning experiences.
• Between 1pm and 4pm you can come take part in our family fun filled crafts in the Education Centre.
• While families are visiting us we encourage all to write letters for the Scott 100 competition. 100 years ago Captain Scott wrote to his wife and asked her to make his boy interested in natural history. His son, Peter Scott went on to establish WWT. Now we want you to write your own letter to someone, asking them to do something to help the natural world. 100 letters will be chosen and posted from the Antarctica in 2013.
