A strong easterly wind blowing today, with heavy showers interspersed with brief sunny periods. Blackcaps and Common Whitethroats continue to sing despite inclement weather. With the weather rather more like October than June, it was rather salutory to find a flock of 60 Lapwings on Powhillon Merse, along with 4 Wigeon in the Flood Ground. Still plenty of Houise Martin action around the Farmhouse Tower, with lots of young being fed and some new nests in progress
