August Bank Holiday morning rounds

South Lake

Nine juvenile Ruff and 10 adults (25 on site today but very mobile), two adult Spotted Redshank 'fishing' together, a very mobile juvenile Greenshank, 2 Green Sandpiper, 1 Avocet, 2 Snipe, 48 Lapwing, 71 Black-tailed Godwit, 60 Teal, 15 Pied Wagtail, 2 drake Pochard among the c40 Tufted Ducks, Kingfisher fishing from dead branches on NE corner of deep lake.

Rushy

Two Avocet, 2 Green Sandpiper, 2 Snipe, 2 Black-tailed Godwit, 7 Redshank and 3 Ruff (latter moved to SL).

Tack Piece

37 Teal, Green Sandpiper and a few Pied Wagtails.

Knott Hide

Two juvenile Ruff on the Pill Box Pool, Reed Warbler and a few passerines in the reeds/hedge.

Middle Point

Immature Peregrine on a kill, two Greenshank on the tidal pools to North of the point, 250+ small waders (distant), 70+ Curlew, 5 Little Egret, 4 Black-tailed Godwit and a variety of gull species.

Top New Piece

275 Teal, 11 Wigeon, 8 Gadwall, 12 Shoveler, 4 juv Ruff, 1 Snipe, 3 Green Sandpiper.

Bottom New Piece

Ross's Goose with Barnacle Goose flock + the Snow x Bar-headed Goose hybrid.
