Bittern on the Top New Piece again

Top New Piece

A Bittern was seen to fly from the island adjacent to the hide towards the Kingfisher Hide (late morning per J. Budd). On the flood at least 60 Lapwing, seven Ruff and 46 Golden Plover were present early morning, the numbers fluctuate during the day.

South Lake

Discovery Hide- at least 16 Red Knot hidden among the Black-tailed Godwits on South Lake + 2 Avocet and varying numbers of Lapwing. Good numbers of Shoveler on the deep lake.

Estuary Tower/Dumbles

Snow Goose with the Greylag Geese.

Middle Point

210 Golden and 28 Grey Plover on the mud with at least 2 Curlew Sandpiper, c 30 Dunlin, Bar-tailed Godwit, 2 Redshank, 1 Spotted Redshank and a few Curlew early morning, numbers of 'Goldies' increased to 240 by mid morning. Reed Buntings and Stonechats in the reeds. Two Great Egrets on the Severn with 10 Little Egret and six Grey Herons as the the tide ebbed. A flock of Wigeon and Pintail were on the main channel.

Rushy Hide

A few Lapwing and Black-tailed Godwits, two Snipe, two Redshank, an Avocet and 50 Teal.

Tack Piece

Forty Wigeon, 18 Lapwing, a few Black-tailed Godwits among the Teal. Chiffchaffs and Cetti's Warblers calling.

Kingfisher Hide

22 Gadwall, 32! Moorhen, 2 Wigeon, 7 Teal and 4 Coot feeding on the cleared channel.

Duck Decoy

Kingfisher fishing on the pond and ditches (canoe trail) nearby. Redpoll and 2 Siskins over calling.
