Caerlaverock sightings 31.3.13

Another bright but still cold day, with plenty (1000s) of Barnacles on/around the site, and lower nos. of Pinkfeet seeming to move through. Whooper Swans at the regular feeds are now dwindling fast, as expected, with only 9 on site at 0830, but with about 100 at the favoured site at nearby Ruthwell village. 7 Black-tailed Godwits are on the Folly Pond along with still reasonable nos. of Teal, Wigeon, Shoveler, Redshank. Little Grebe still on the Teal Pond along with 2 prs. of Gadwall. Small nos of Lapwing and Golden Plovers are on the wider field and merses. Spring migration still slow here, with most of the usual spring/summer visitors still anxiously awaited, not least of course the Ospreys...
