A much calmer day after the stormy weather this week

Highlights and counts from the morning rounds included the following

Estuary Tower

380 Wigeon and 63 Shelduck on the saltmarsh and 490 Lapwing on the Dumbles, Mistle Thrush, Redwings and Fieldfares fed in the hedges and two Bullfinch were seen, a Goldcrest was seen along the path. The wing- tagged Marsh Harrier orange I 7 with on carrion with two Buzzards, in the flood pools a number of waders fed or roosted over the tide including 230 Dunlin, 340 Golden Plover, 14 Shelduck, 85 Curlew in the roost, 39 Great Black-backed Gull, 41 Russian White-fronted, 93 Greylag, 384 Canada and138 Barnacle Geese and Snow x Bar-headed Goose, on the mudflats as the tide rose were 2 Grey Plover, 2 G Heron and a Little Egret.

65 Lapwing, 15 Curlew, 15 Redshank, 70 Teal, 45 Greylag and 17 Canada Geese.

A Great Crested Grebe has returned to the lake plus 40 Tufted Duck, 89 Shoveler, 4 Pochard, 2 Wigeon, 16 Shelduck, 1 Snipe, 243 Black-tailed Godwit, 160 Lapwing and 7+ Ruff
