Citrine Wagtail seen briefly again today

Citrine latest

The Citrine Wagtail was seen briefly in the Bottom New Piece, although overlooked by the Kingfisher Hide, the distance and current rush cover make it impossible to see the shore of the flood. It is an area with no access unless guided by staff and even this isn't possible, the Longhorn Cattle are grazing here at the moment and whilst they are generally placid it would be unsafe to be among the herd with their offspring.

The wagtail flew off toward the Top New Piece/grounds and despite a prolonged search and listen, it wasn't seen or heard here over the next hour. At least 8 Yellow Wagtail, 3 Green Sandpiper, 1 Hobby, 2 Buzzard, 5 Whinchat and 12+ Reed Bunting were also noted in this field or in the rush or hedge.

We have no plans to open early tomorrow so will be resuming pre-booked tickets (or limited walk-in places) via the Visitor Centre from 0930am.
