Crane families doing well

South Lake

Both adult Cranes present and apparently feeding young but difficult to see in tall vegetation, Please tweet in if you get sightings of the young.
The Black Tailed Godwit flock (59) are feeding close to the hide. Avocet 57 in total and several incubating birds. Great Crested Grebe still incubating on lake, 29 Gadwall, 2 Oystercatchers and young B H Gulls and Shelduck everywhere.

Zeiss Hide

Cranes looking good here as well, both adult present and apparently feeding young, again if you can confirm numbers of young please tweet in. Duck include Teal 17, Gadwall 41, 10 Shoveler and a Wigeon. Waders are 20 Avocet with at least 6 well fledged young, 6 Redshank may well be the start of the post breeding flock and a scattering of adult and young Lapwings. Reed Bunting calling in front of the hide and a cuckoo also calling nearby.

Rushy

Both adult Cranes and a single healthy looking chick showed briefly.
Gadwall 10 adult and broods of 3 and 6.
Shellduck 19 adults and a brood of 3
Teal 4
Avocet 12 adults with broods of 3 and 4 small young and 2 fledged.
Med Gull 1 adult, 2 2nd summer and 3 1st summers

Decoy

Being drained ready for de-silting, first thing this morning there were 2 Great White Egret, 8 Little Egrets and a Grey Heron taking advantage of the shallow water.
