Discover Birds Weekend is Mar 25-26
The new Spring version of our popular Discover Birds Weekend runs March 25-26 at Arundel Wetland Centre. This first of four 2017 seasonal Discover Birds weekends is bursting with new walks, experiences and activities! Seasoned birders will enjoy time with our own experts, Warden Paul Stevens and Centre Manager Dave Fairlamb. There is a lot of discoveries awaiting families at fun themed basic bird sessions with friendly wardens and the Arundel Learning Team.
On Sat 25 March Dave Fairlamb explains 'How to Begin Birdwatching' and leads ‘Spring Wings Walk’ to ID spring bird behaviours. Both mornings Dave will guide two ‘Birdsong from a Boat’ trips. Guitarist Tony Randle is giving a recital Saturday afternoon of his compositions inspired by recording of birdsong.
Highlights on Sunday include a Bird Photography walk with Paul Stevens, a History of Hides walk, and a talk on the Kwazulu-Natal and Hluhlume with Ina Turner in the Sand Piper Theatre.
Families can try their hand at quill writing and block printing and making felt birds. Workshops include a session with WWT wardens on wildlife nests and fun, drop-in sessions on bird basics for families in the comfort of the Discovery Hide
