Free School Visits

Free school visits are starting next week. The first school to visit us is St James CE Primary School from Bolton who will be here on Monday. Also joining us next week is Marsh Green Primary from Wigan and Rice Lane Infants from Liverpool.

The schools are from deprived areas and have been selected to come to their local WWT Wetland centre for free, thanks to a successful Inspiring Generations fundraising appeal from Cargill Liverpool/Manchester.  The school will be able to experience all aspects of Martin Mere. Our objective is to develop their understanding of how some species of swan e.g. Whoopers, migrate. Also to gain some understanding of how birds are adapted for flight and migration. They will also have time to explore the grounds and feed the ducks.  The Children will take part in a number of active sessions to get them involved. The children will hopefully get inspired by the nature and wildlife and continue an interest for years to come. We have devised this plan to inspire a generation because children are spending less time out doors with nature.

We will take some nice pictures and get comments from the teachers and children. We will put them on the diary next week so be sure to check it out.
