Friday the 15th of November sightings
Lots of Dunlin were visible from Zeiss Hide in the morning, and the Spoonbill spent the day on the South Lake.
South Lake
From Discovery Hide there was 1 Spoonbill, 8 Snipe, 255 Teal, 438 Lapwing, 13 Cormorant, 1 Great-crested grebe, and 6 Tufted Duck. Later in the morning, 13 White-fronted geese dropped onto the deep lake from Discovery Hide.
Estuary Tower
Visible from the tower were 5 White-fronted Geese with the Canada geese, 33 Great black-backed Gull, 29 Shelduck, 1400+ Golden Plover, and a similar amount of Lapwing. There was a Siskin briefly in front of the tower as well as Chiffchaff, c400 Wigeon, Teal, and Shoveler on the scrape. Later in the afternoon, a Brent goose was spotted too.
Tack Piece
From Robbie Garnett Hide there were 32 Redshank, 3 Curlew, 24 Pintail, 670+ Wigeon, 100+ Teal, 20 Shoveler, 4 Shelduck, 2 Buzzard, Chinese/Swan Goose with the Greylags. Large flocks of Lapwing and Golden Plover were super mobile.
Rushy Hide
First thing in the morning 7 Bewick’s swans were on the Lake.
Zeiss Hide
From Zeiss Hide in the morning there was 490 Teal, 2 Shoveler, 25 Ruff, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Great Egret, 76 Lapwing and a large flock of Dunlin, Cetti’s, and Water Rail heard.
Through the grounds, 2 Siskin were seen as well as a couple of Goldcrest and lots of Pigeon Migration was visible. A Marsh Harrier was also seen to the north of the reserve in the afternoon, flying along the seawall.
