Get lost in your own adventure this World Wetlands Day
To celebrate World Wetlands Day, 2 February 2025, we're encouraging nature lovers to explore the hidden worlds within wetlands with a free ticket offer.
We're opening the doors to our nine wetland centres across the UK for free from Friday 31 January to Friday 7 February.
Visitors both frequent and new can claim a free ticket by entering a valid email address. On arrival, adventurers will be encouraged to ‘get lost’ in their own wetland adventure.
Armed with a beautifully illustrated ‘penny-coin’ map that highlights hidden corners and unseen sights, visitors will be invited to leave things to chance with the flip of a coin, and let fate decide their path.
WWT Chief Executive Sarah Fowler, said:
“Amazing things can happen in wetlands. These inspiring spaces quiet the noise of everyday life and give us the opportunity to get up close to nature. It’s our mission at WWT to restore these wonderful places and help people build meaningful connections with nature.
“This World Wetlands Day, we encourage everyone to take up the free ticket offer. Get outside – and get ready to be the main character in your very own, super-powered wetland adventure.”
Research has shown that just ten minutes in a wetland setting, like a marsh, lake or river, is enough to boost your mood. For those that aren’t able to get out into a wetland in person, we'll share the sights and sounds of wetlands digitally on our website and social media channels.
WWT champions wetlands 365 days a year. And on 2 February, the world comes together to celebrate these super-powered habitats. Wetlands are water-purifying, flood-busting, nature-boosting, carbon-sinking and mood-lifting habitats, that burst with life.
