High Tide, Waders and a Black Tern

Another high tide this morning bringing lots of waders into the site

Zeiss Hide

Great wader watching here. Totals of; Ringed Plover 45, Turnstone 3, Avocet 12, Oystercatcher 2, Black Tailed Godwit 45, Redshank 12, Ruff 11, Dunlin 45, Sanderling 1, Knot 2, Curlew Sandpiper 5. Ducks included Garganey 5 possibly 6, Wigeon 8 and Teal 112. Also an adult Med Gull.

Estuary

More of the same from here, a big flock of 200 small waders were roosting distantly on the Dumbles. Mainly Ringed Plover and Dunlin but 2 Turnstone and 2 Knott were also seen. Curlew roost peaked at 180 with a summer plumaged Bar Tailed Godwit, there were 2 Little Egrets and a distant dark backed Gull probably a Yellow Legged. A Wheatear was at mid point.

Tack Piece

Nice to see a group of 3 Knot (1 in summer plumage) and a Dunlin here as well as the usual Green Sandpipers.

Rushy

Three Snipe best from here and a trickle of Black Tailed Godwits, Redshank and Green Sandpipers.

South Lake

More great birding here. 265 Black tailed Godwits, Ruff at least 12, Redshank 27, Lapwing 86, Snipe 2, two Pochard lots of Shovelers and a good passage of Sand Martins, around 30 at a time. To Top it all a young Black Tern dropped in from about 15.00.
