South Lake

From the Discovery hide 90 Avocets were seen although no chicks, many are still sitting on nests. 25 Black-tailed Godwits, 2 male Pochard, 12 Gadwall, 6 Tufted ducks. Also around is the Mute Swan family with 6 cygnets, Oystercatcher family with 3 chicks and the Black headed gull colony with lots of chicks. Also a lot of House Martins, Swallows and Swifts feeding.

Later in the afternoon the Great crested grebes were also seen.

Rushy Lake

Out on the Rushy there were 25 Avocet with 9 young between them, 57 Gadwall, 8 Shelduck with 16 young, 1 Pochard, 3 Shoveler, 2 Redshank 1 Oystercatcher and 4 Tufted duck.

Decoy Hide

From the Decoy Hide there was the Mute Swan family with 3 cygnets, the Greylag goose family with 2 goslings, 3 Tufted duck and a Grey Heron.

South Finger Walkway

Along the path to the Kingfisher Hide 1 Little Egret was seen, a Bullfinch calling, and a Mistle Thrush was singing.

Kingfisher Hide

From the Kingfisher Hide there were 2 Roe Deer on the Bottom New Piece, 3 pairs of Tufted duck and a Reed Bunting singing away.

Zeiss Hide

Visible from Zeiss Hide were 13 Shelduck and a family with 7 ducklings, 1 Oystercatcher, 21 Avocet, 1 Redshank, 1 Black-tailed godwit and Cranes Oakie & Sherbert were back on Top New Piece catching insects, only one chick was visible.

Midpoint

The Bluethroat was singing away this morning despite blustery conditions and an Ospray was brisfly seen flying South.
