The daily Wild Bird Feed in Discovery Hide will end this week, and the last Whooper Swan talk will be on Sunday 16th at 3pm.

The Pink-Footed Geese which sit on the back of the Mere during the day, and the Whooper Swans, will soon be making their return migration to Iceland and Greenland.

4 Redwing were seen in the grassy areas of the car park on Tuesday.

A Barn Owl was spotted on Wednesday in Carum field which is situated behind Janet Kear hide.

Today, 3 Mediterranean Gulls, 45 Oystercatchers, 11 Cormorants, 12 Tufted Ducks, 5 Snipe and 1 Marsh Harrier were counted on the Mere. 50+ Black-Tailed Godwits are present on the Mere, and they are transitioning into their rusty orange breeding plumage. Wigeon, Shelduck, Pintail, Pochard, Ruff, Greylag Geese, Coot, and Lapwing can also be seen around the reserve.

A Sparrowhawk flew close in front of the windows of the Discovery Hide in the morning.

At Janet Kear hide, 1 Reed Bunting was observed in the ground vegetation and 5 Bullfinch can still be seen around the feeders.

Our pair of Great Crested Grebe are still visible from Harrier hide and were seen building their nest today. Also counted from Harrier hide were 17 Shovelers, a group of 10 Gadwall and 2 adult Mute Swans.

62 Avocets were showing well from the Rees and Gordon Taylor hides, along with 11 Shovelers, 4 Oystercatchers, 20+ Teal, 1 Kestrel and 1 Buzzard. 1 Cetti's Warbler could be heard from behind Gordon Taylor hide. 1 Chiffchaff and 10+ Snipe were spotted from Ron Barker hide.
