Our North American visitor was still present on the South Lake this morning, showing well at times.

The bird took flight and headed for the river and was lost for around an hour before being found again on the Top New Piece, viewable from the Zeiss Hide. As of 11am the bird was still present. Keep up to date with the latest news on our Twitter feed here - https://twitter.com/slimbridge_wild

South Lake
Even though the Lesser Yellowlegs departed early morning, the wader scrape was still very busy over high tide with birds present including a juvenile Ringed Plover, a Little Stint, up to 15 Curlew Sandpiper, 70+ Dunlin, two juvenile Spotted Redshank, 268 Black-tailed Godwit, 19 Redshank, 20 Ruff, 155 Lapwing and two Snipe. A Green Sandpiper was from the Hogarth Hide. Five Pochard were on the deep lake.

Zeiss Hide
The Lesser Yellowlegs was found here just before 9:30am and remained through the morning. Also present were 66 Wigeon and 451 Teal. A small party of Dunlin and two Curlew Sandpiper appeared briefly but then moved off to the South Lake.

Estuary Tower
A slightly smaller Curlew roost this morning with 198 present. Also of note were six juvenile Bar-tailed Godwit, two juvenile Knot, a juvenile Ruff, seven Little Egret, 31 Great Black-backed Gull and flock of small waders. Two Marsh Harrier were also seen over the morning, one resting on the spartina island until the last of the tide forced it to take flight.

A Little Egret was fishing on the Pillbox Pool, and over the fence on the Long Ground Pool were 20 Gadwall, 4 Shoveler and a Pintail.

Decoy Hide
Seven Little Egret and drake Mandarin were reported here

Rushy Hide
At least 141 Teal were on the lower pond this morning. Also counted were two Snipe, seven Tufted Duck, five Gadwall and two Shoveler. A Chiffchaff was singing nearby.
