Little Stints on the South Lake

Two Little Stints dropped in on South Lake for a brief visit, flew off toward Top New Piece

Highlights from the morning hides rounds and checks as follows

Estuary Tower/Middle Point

Waders arrived over the high tide with many roosting in the tall vegetation (so hidden) on the saltmarsh shelf (they will be pushed off from here in the coming days).

At least c210 Dunlin, a juvenile Little-ringed Plover, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, 1 Little Stint 42 Ringed Plover, 24 Avocet, 4 juvenile Bar-tailed Godwit with 120 Curlew, 122 Shelduck, 18 Great Black-backed Gull, 10 Little Egrets and 2 Grey Heron. Large flocks of Barnacle and Canada Geese were also on the saltmarsh.

2 juvenile Ruff with flocks of Greylag, Gadwall and Teal.

Rushy Hide

Green Sandpiper, 8 Black-tailed Godwit and 2 juvenile Ruff.

South Lake

Two Little Stint were on the scrape but flew toward Top New Piece, 245 Black-tailed Godwit, 9 Ruff, 26 Redshank, 3 Curlew Sandpiper and 12 Dunlin. Five Cormorants plus flocks of Teal, Gadwall, Tufted Duck, Greylag and

9 juvenile Curlew Sandpiper at 08:30am, three still at 0900am , 6 Dunlin, 8 Snipe, 8 Ruff, 340 Teal but many flew off, 38 Wigeon and small parties of Shoveler.
