Meet the Salt Hill Stream superheroes helping to blitz Slough's litter problem
Around 20 volunteers made up of adults and kids turned out to clear the local area of rubbish, organised by Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust.
Councillors Mohammed Nazir and Fiza A Matloob also helped with the litter pick.
In just two hours, the garbage-busting team had collected 16 black bags of rubbish, a chair, paint pots and loose rubber.
WWT’s community engagement officer Shelley Rowley said:
“It was a great turnout and everyone worked really hard to collect as much waste as possible.
“Thanks to their efforts, the difference before and after was remarkable. They’re our very own superheroes.”
The family-friendly event was held in partnership with community group Paving the Way.
The following step is to focus on restoring the section of stream which runs above the ground in Granville Park.
The next event will be held on February 10 from 10am until 1pm. Families are invited on a river bug safari at Salt Hill Park to discover all the weird and wonderful mini beasts that live in the stream.
